Federal Tax Credits
Beginning in 2006, the U. S. Government is making the purchase of a 95+% AFUE gas furnace even more enticing. With the signing of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPACT), homeowners who purchase furnaces with an AFUE of 95% or higher in 2006 and 2007 may qualify for a tax credit of $150. And if that furnace has a variable-speed blower motor in it, the homeowner may qualify for an additional $50 tax credit! (Furnace buyers should consult with a tax professional to discuss the specific benefits EPACT offers them).
